How to brush:
A few simple facts

Take a look at these 4 brushing facts inspired by iTOP philosophy and help your patients fall in love with their oral care.

1. Clean teeth are healthy teeth

Many patients who came to the university clinic of Dr Sedelmayer back in the 1980s and early 1990shad the same type of pain or swelling – no matter their age, gender or socio-economic background. Their pathology was caused by dental plaque, as a consequence of an insufficient or inadequate oral care routine.

2. Even experts need to
master the basics

Many of Dr Sedelmayer’s students were experts on difficult clinical subjects, but they still were victims of caries and gum bleeding themselves.

3. Touch to teach

The difference between iTOP and other programmes is the Touch to Teach component – all the techniques are practised hands-on, in the mouth, like in any other area of dentistry. Dental students need to teach their colleagues optimal oral hygiene techniques and then the ‘patient’ will demonstrate what they had learned. If the technique is correctly repeated and demonstrated by the ‘patient’, the student who taught their colleague will pass the exam.

4. The gift of dental health

No gingivitis, no periodontitis, no tooth decay. That’s the simple result of iTOP, and the lifetime gift you can give to every one of your patients.
