Key take-aways from chapter one

If you take home anything from the first chapter, let it be these three things.

1. The oral care industry is changing

It is moving towards prevention, in part inspired by the WHO’s Global Oral Health Action Plan for 2023 to 2030. The plan sets a target that by 2030 80% of the global population will be entitled to essential oral healthcare services.

2. This change will impact the day-to-day nature of dentistry

Many aspects of current dentistry work will disappear, some will remain, and others will be completely new. The potential brought on by the refresh of dentistry is enormous.

3. Many dentists are already spearheading the change

Leading prophylaxis-oriented clinics; motivating their patients towards prevention; focusing not only on patients’ oral health but also their overall health; and spreading new approaches among colleagues.
